Neurodiversity

The Rotary Club of San José is excited to offer a new grant opportunity for neurodivergent artists ages 16–25 who live in the Bay Area.  This program was created by David Neale, a longtime Rotarian, community leader, and supporter of the arts. Its goal is simple: to support young neurodivergent artists and celebrate their creativity.  This year, four artists will receive a $2,500 grant to help them continue their artistic work.

We welcome artists working in many forms, including:

  • Visual art (drawing, painting, photography, digital art, etc.)
  • Music
  • Performing arts
  • Storytelling and writing
  • Advocacy and creative expression connected to lived experience

If selected, you and someone who supports you (a parent, caregiver, mentor, or advocate) will be invited to attend a spring, in-person celebration hosted by the Rotary Club of San José. At the event, you will receive your grant and have the chance to share or show your work in a way that feels comfortable to you.

We encourage you to apply if you are passionate about your art and want to be part of a supportive, welcoming community.

The Rotary Club of San Jose Neurodiversity Committee strives to support, recognize, and celebrate artists between the ages of 16 – 25 who identify as neurodivergent, including artists with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, Down syndrome and artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

For more information, contact the Committee Chair DeAnna Pursai.
